With their backs against the wall, the Humboldt Broncos beat the Nipawin Hawks 2-1 in overtime to stay alive in their best-of-seven series. The Notre Dame Hounds couldn't manage a win against the Weyburn Red Wings, and now join the Battlefords' North Stars as teams eliminated from the first round of the playoffs. Curtis Yausie scored at 7:34 of overtime to lift the Broncos over the Hawks. Nipawin leads the series 3-2. Kevin Duchaine scored for the Broncos in the second period, while Scott Hosaluk replied for the Hawks in the third period. Humboldt out shot Nipawin 50-23, including 14-8 in overtime in front of 1,017 fans in Humboldt. The Weyburn Red Wings shut out the Notre Dame Hounds 3-0, winning the series 4-1 in the process. Frankie Dicks, Shayne Emmons and Rick Wood scored for the Wings, while Cale Jordison stopped 25 shots for the shutout win in front of just 662 fans in Weyburn.
