Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Over 250 snowmobiles paraded down Main Street for the recent SaskMan Border Bash. With riders ranging in age from 12 to those in their 70s, the Border Explorers Snowmobile Club welcomed roughly 300 people to the area for the March 4-6 weekend. The parade, which left a haze of blue exhaust, was just one part of the event. Riders were not only treated to guided tours on area trails, but also a fish fry, fishing day and even a banquet. Riders from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba joined together as they toured the Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach areas. The rally started off on Friday, March 4 with a dignitary ride to Denare Beach. Members of the RCMP, Julian Kolt of Cottage North and Ald. Jeff Lane of Creighton joined with the rest of the snowmobilers for the leisurely ride. Following the arrival in Denare Beach, everyone was treated to a lunch Ð after being welcomed by Mayor Carl Lentowicz. The SaskMan Border Bash is an annual snowmobile rally. This was Creighton's second year hosting, the last time coming in 2005. Next year, the riders will head to Hudson Bay. The Border Explorers hope to bid for the event again in a few years to come.
