Not only was it a win against a rival team, but the Flin Flon Bombers claimed their 33rd win of the 2009-10 season Tuesday. Since becoming head coach and GM in 2007, Mike Reagan has had a lot of success with the Maroon and White. His first season as coach, the Bombers finished the regular season with 33 wins and one less the next year. With 33 wins under their belt now, the Bombers have a chance to meet their goal of 40 wins. Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Broncos allowed the Bombers to tie their 2007 effort of 33 wins. "This is tied for the most wins we've had in the...three years that I've been here," said Reagan. Going back to the 1986-87 season, the Bomber organization has fluctuated in wins Ð some years came in with numbers well into the 30s, while other years saw only 10 wins. The Bombers, this year, hope to reach the 40-win mark Ð something that has only been done by one Bomber team in the past. The 2000-01 season, the year of the Royal Bank Cup, saw the Bombers earn 44 wins out of 62 games played, and 91 points. With 58 games on the roster, and eight remaining this year, the Bombers are in good standing to reach their goal. Heading into games, Reagan uses the past stats as motivation for his team. The Bomber organization went through a few rough patches as they earned a little as 10 wins in a season, out of 60 and 64 games. But the organization has also seen the good years, such as the RBC year and the 1988-89 season (36 wins) and the 1993-94 season (36 wins). The Bombers claimed the SJHL Championship title during the 1992-93 season as well, as they finished with 35 wins in the regular season. Getting to the 40-win mark would be "pretty special," said Reagan. "Only one other Bomber team in history has done that."
