The Flin Flon Bombers are winless in four after a disappointing trip to the September Showcase in Saskatoon. The Maroon and White lost 7-5 to the Weyburn Red Wings on Saturday and 4-3 in a shootout to the Kindersley Klippers the following night. Saturday's goalfest started out promising enough for the Bombers, who took a two-goal lead in the first period on goals from Reid MacLeod (assisted by Pierre-Luc Boucher) and David Linsley (Dustyn Clegg, Jean-Michel Allard). Weyburn came to within one to close out the period before adding four more in the second. Flin Flon's lone goal that frame came from Jean-Sebastien Bergeron (Linsley, Tommy Castonguay). With the score 5-3 heading into the third, Boucher got his team to within one on a feed from Allard and MacLeod. The Red Wings weren't about to let a win slip away, however, scoring two more goals to turn the score 7-4 in their favour. A powerplay marker from MacLeod (Michael Young, Boucher) with less than a minute left gave the Bombers hope, but they could not follow up with a tying marker. Frustration continued Sunday against Kindersley. Bomber captain Dennis Kubat (Young, Boucher) opened the scoring on the powerplay. Reid MacLeod (Boucher, Young) added to the lead in the second with another goal with the man-advantage. But the Klippers came to life in the third with three goals - two on the powerplay and the third shorthanded - and outshot their opponents 16-3. Kindersley appeared poised for victory until MacLeod (Castonguay, Clegg) scored the tying goal on yet another powerplay with just eight seconds left on the clock. Overtime solved nothing, sending the match-up into a shootout. Things remained tied after the first round of shooters. After Kindersley's Ryan Sawka scored, Kubat was unable to answer back. The losses mean Flin Flon has not won since their season opener at the Whitney Forum on Sept. 14. They'll look to reverse that trend Friday when they host the Estevan Bruins.
