We now know who the Bombers will face in the first round of this year's SJHL playoffs.

In the last game of the season, the Humboldt Broncos locked in the seventh spot in the league standings, securing a Broncos-Bombers series.

The Bombers' opponent would be decided by the results of the final game of the SJHL season - a matchup between Humboldt and the last-place Melville Millionaires. If Humboldt won, they would finish seventh in the league and face the Bombers. If the Broncos lost, Nipawin would finish seventh and produce a Bombers-Hawks series.

Melville drew first blood in the second period, with 18-year-old Nathan Hannon scoring his first goal of the season - 40 games in - to give the Mils a 1-0 lead. Cade Cavallini of the Broncos responded late in the second, keeping the game tied at one each after two periods.

In the third, the Broncos' powerplay struck, with Braiden Koran breaking the deadlock. Reid Arnold added a goal of his own around the halfway mark of the period to extend the lead to two.

With the seeding now decided, we now know all four first-round matchups. First place Battlefords will take on the Nipawin Hawks. Yorkton, who were bumped down to fourth spot in the league by a surging Melfort team, will play La Ronge in the middle 4-vs-5 series. Melfort will play Estevan, with the 'Stangs getting home ice advantage.

The Bombers will host Games 1 and 2 of the first round series at the Whitney Forum March 6 and 7.
