The Bombers are welcoming back a familiar face. After starting the season in his native South Dakota, Jacob Vockler is back.

The forward has come back north and will be part of the Bombers' lineup this weekend in a homestand against the Kindersley Klippers.

"It feels good to be back in Flin Flon. I got a warm welcoming back from the boys and I'm excited to be here. We've got some unfinished business and I'm looking forward to being back in the same situation - this time, winning it all," said Vockler in a video released online by the Bombers Oct. 5.

Vockler played for the Bombers last season and put up 38 points in his first season of junior hockey. In the playoffs, Vockler was an impact player for Flin Flon, especially in the Bombers' first round series against Battlefords. Vockler scored four goals and had five points against the Stars, including an overtime winner at home in Game 4 that tied the series and the eventual series winner in Game 6. The forward also added four goals for the Bombers in five games at the Centennial Cup, leading the team in goal scoring at the tournament.

The forward did not return for Bomber camp this season - Vockler told the team he wouldn't be returning, at least immediately, for the 2022/23 season. Head coach and general manager Mike Reagan described the reason for Vockler's departure as "personal reasons" but said the Bombers would keep the Canadian junior A rights of both Vockler and his younger brother, Zach.

Instead, the forward started this season with the NAHL's Aberdeen Wings, located not far from his hometown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. With the Wings, Vockler had four points in eight games.

The Bombers' roster now sits at 28 players, following the acquisitions of Vockler and defender Alex Von Sprecken and without news of further deals or cuts.
