After their second straight victory in their new threads, the Flin Flon Bombers should consider wearing their third jersey every night. The Bombers knocked off the La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-1 last Friday when the jerseys made their debut. Keep in mind, Flin Flon had not beat La Ronge in their previous 17 meetings, including all 10 match- ups last season. Tuesday night, the Bombers were back to their regular home whites, when they fell just short of a comeback, losing 7-6 to the visiting Melfort Mustangs. Dalton Pajak and Tyler Beachell both had four point nights in the losing cause. On Wednesday, the Bombers (and the jerseys) pulled through with a 5-1 win over the same Mustangs. The victory sent nearly 1,000 fans home happy for two reason: a win, and some free chicken. It was the first time this season that the Bombers had beaten an opponent by at least four goals, igniting a Chicken Chef Four Goal Explosion. Fans can thank Andrew Leslie for sealing the deal with an empty net goal. Evan Smith opened the scoring just 21 seconds after the opening face off, joining the rush and converting a perfect pass from Blake Rolston. Dalton Pajak also had a lot to do with the win, beating goaltender David Ritz with two top shelf goals. Myles Masse had the other Flin Flon goal. After being yanked on Tuesday night, Zane Kelemba rebounded with a 33-save performance, including a busy final ten minutes. The Mustangs scored three power play goals on Tuesday night, but were held scoreless on six chances with the man advantage on Wednesday. Flin Flon's power play is on life support, as the Bombers notched just one goal on 11 tries in the past two games. Next action for the Bombers is tonight, when Notre Dame Hounds make their only appearance at the Whitney Forum this season. Game time is 7:30.
