The Flin Flon Bombers had success on the ice this past season and, last weekâ??s annual general meeting heard, off of it as well. The team pulled in an impressive $17,161 profit for the year as the new 50/50 Central had a considerable impact on the ticket sales. The clubâ??s annual boat draw and side-by-side raffle helped bring in more money to raise the profit. The AGM, held last Wednesday, May 29, discussed the financials of the team as well as a recap of the season from head coach and GM Mike Reagan and president Henry Kosar. Reagan, coach and GM since 2007, was offered a two-year contract extension, which he accepted. Kosar explained the importance of stability in a returning coach. The AGM was held in the Green Room of the Flin Flon Community Hall and attended by roughly 20 people. â??People are passionate about this team and I think they want to know whatâ??s going on,â?ù said Reagan before Wednesdayâ??s meeting. â??Itâ??s important that we keep them informed of the direction weâ??re going in and hopefully people will have a better understanding of where the puck sits from last year.â?ù Addressing the nearly 20 people in attendance, as well as the board of directors beside him, Reagan answered questions from the attendees. The topic of imported players came up and Reagan announced that from a recent Hockey Canada meeting, Canadian players will no longer be considered imports. In previous years, each team in the SJHL was only allowed a certain number of players from outside Saskatchewan. Now teams are able to recruit from all over the country. Only non-Canadian players will be considered imports. This coming season teams will be able to have seven imported players with the number dropping to six in the near future. Returning Other questions came Reaganâ??s way with regard to returning players. Of the players who laced up last year, 14 are eligible to return this season. Through this yearâ??s spring camp the Bombers signed seven players â?? including local product Evan Akkerman. The Bombers also signed forwards Evan Patrick from the PA Mintos, Ryan McQueen of Thunder Bay and Ram Brar of the North Vancouver Wolf Pack. And the Maroon and White will welcome blueliners Rob Cameron of the Saskatoon Blades, Brandon Workman of Victoria and Keifer Schoufler of the Jr B University of Alberta Bisons.
