Crack open the champagne - the Flin Flon Bombers ended 2017 on a high note with a 7-3 win over La Ronge.

The Bombers opened the scoring early in the latest installment of the Hanson Lake Road rivalry, with Chrystopher Collin and Ethan Daniels each scoring in the first. La Ronge managed to get on the board in the second with a goal by Tanner Brewster, but Rob Johnson, Daylan Marchi and Nick Shumlanski each added to Flin Flon's total, ending the second period with a 5-1 lead.

Both Flin Flon and La Ronge exchanged goals in the third, with Connor Smith and Navarro Lane scoring for the Ice Wolves and Nate Hooper and Calvon Boots tallying for Flin Flon.

Brenden Newton snagged his second win over La Ronge in as many nights, making 29 saves. La Ronge goalies Merek Pipes and Jordan Frey were pelted in the Ice Wolves net, with Pipes making 28 saves before pulled and Frey stopping 21 shots in relief.

Flin Flon is now riding a three-game winning streak, with two of those wins coming on the road. The Bombers have only won three road games this season, with two coming in their last two away matchups.

The Bombers will start 2018 with a pair of home games against Yorkton on Jan. 5 and 6. Five out of the Bombers' next six games will be played at home.
