The latest chapter of the Hanson Lake Road rivalry has gone to the Flin Flon Bombers.
Flin Flon took down the La Ronge Ice Wolves 6-1 on Friday night. Three consecutive goals in the third period paced the Bombers, with Dawson McKenzie, Nate Hooper and Chrystopher Collin all finding the twine in the first 20 minutes.
Zach Bannister replied for La Ronge with one second left in the first period, but that wasn't enough to stop the bleeding. Flin Flon added another three goals throughout the rest of the game. Donavan Houle-Villeneuve, Brandson Hein and Hooper added insurance markers.
Brenden Newton made 23 stops in a slow night in the Bomber crease. La Ronge goalie Merek Pipes was shelled, making 48 saves on the night.
The win means the Bombers have earned points in three of their past four games, each of them played on the road. Going further back into the team's recent play, the Bombers have points in six of their past seven games.
Flin Flon currently sits ninth overall in the SJHL standings with 41 points, nine points clear of the tenth-place Melville Millionaires but just behind the Kindersley Klippers, who sit eighth with 44 points.
The Ice Wolves and Bombers will have a rematch at the Whitney Forum on Saturday during Hockey Night in the North. Admission to the game will be free of charge.
