Giving the added touch of experience to young hockey players, the Flin Flon Bombers Hockey School Ð formerly Xtreme Hockey School Ð gets underway later this summer. The change of the name comes with giving an affiliation between younger players and the Maroon and White, says head coach and GM Mike Reagan. "The kids like the chance to meet the players," says Reagan, noting that it is another way for the Bombers to be involved in the community. With the Bombers on the ice, the young players will learn a few lessons as well as tips and pointers. In the past, the Xtreme Hockey School would usually have a full roster, says Reagan, and he hopes to see the trend carry through for this year. With a average of 120 players on the ice, Reagan says there are a couple highlights this year that might bump that number up by a few. Aside from the Bombers' involvement, the hockey camp is also offering clinics and information for female hockey. Reagan says although girls can play and participate in the camps, there is going to be a section for female hockey. "There are a lot of women looking to play hockey," he says. "And it would be a good opportunity to learn the skills of the game." In such a hockey-populated town, Reagan says this will give everyone a chance to understand the game a little bit more.
