Five Flin Flon Bombers and head coach and general manager Mike Reagan made their mark at the SJHL-MJHL Showcase tournament.

Goalie Brenden Newton, defenceman Calvon Boots and forwards Chrystopher Collin, Nate Hooper and Caleb Moretz headed to Regina to face a group of all-star teams comprised of players from the MJHL.

Boots, Hooper, Moretz and Newton were joined by now-former Bomber Nick Shumlanski on Team Mitchell, a team featuring players born in 1997 and 1998 bearing the name of former NHL defenceman and Melfort Mustang
Willie Mitchell.

Collin suited up for Team Schwartz, made up of 1999 and 2000-born players and named after ex-Notre Dame Hound and current St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz. Reagan served as the head coach for Team Schwartz.

Collin scored two goals in his first game, a 5-1 win against the MJHL’s Team Garbutt. The team’s luck didn’t continue into its second game, a 5-2 loss to Team Garbutt where Collin was held pointless.

The Team Mitchell contingent played admirably in both games, coming away with wins against two teams of MJHL players.

Team Mitchell defeated the MJHL’s Team Zajac on Jan. 15 4-2, with Shumlanski and Boots scoring goals. Team Zajac included multiple members of the OCN Blizzard, including forward Daylon Campbell, who scored in the game.

One day later, Newton backstopped the team to a 4-3 overtime win over Team Belfour and was named player of the game. Moretz earned an assist in the second game.
