Stepping on the Whitney Forum ice last Friday night, the Flin Flon Bombers had a record of 1-3-0-1, but they were determined to improve on those stats. They did. The Bombers took on the Estevan Bruins and lit up the scoreboard 3-1. Dressing for the Maroon and White was Carsen Chubak (29) in goal with Riley Ross (33) as the back-up. The Bombers got the scoring started with Tommy Castonguay (19) putting the puck in the net, assisted by Dustyn Clegg (28) and J.M. Allard (24) after only 5:12 of play. The Bruins answered back at 8:52 into the period. Kyle Stroh, assisted by Payden Benning, scored the only goal of the night for the Bruins. After a few penalties for both the Bombers and the Bruins, Cameron MacKinnon (21) was able to get one past Bruins goalie Guillaume Peousse to bring the score up to 2-1 for the home side. Flin Flon's second goal of the night was assisted by Dominique Martel and Shawn McNulty. The goal came at 14:49 into the first period. The Bombers got back on the ice after the intermission, in front of the almost 1,029 fans, and didn't hold back as they kept the puck away from the Bruins. After 13:04 of play in the second period, captain Dennis Kubat (39) scored the third and final goal of the game for the Bombers. Pierre-Luc Boucher (44) and Michael Young (6) collected assists. The Bombers kept up their game for the rest of the second and third period and kept the puck away from their net. Chubak stopped 21 of his 22 shots on net, while the Bombers got three of their 35 shots past the Estevan goalie.
