The Flin Flon Bombers owned the ice all game against Kindersley Friday night, earning a 5-1 win.

The Bombers took the lead in the first period, with reigning SJHL rookie of the week Ethan Daniels opening the scoring with his third goal this season.

Flin Flon kept the throttle down for the next forty minutes. Nate Hooper extended the lead to 2-0 on a two-man break with Chrystopher Collin.

Kindersley got on the board courtesy of Curtis Peck, who snuck the puck past Bomber netminder Brenden Newton to cut Flin Flon's lead to one.

The one-goal deficit was as close as the Klippers would get, with a pair of Bomber rookies getting their first SJHL goals.  Vaughan Bamford got his first score a minute after Peck's goal to make it a 3-1 game, with Calvon Boots adding his first junior A tally less than two minutes after that. Klipper goalie Justen Close was yanked from the crease after Boots scored, making 16 saves on 20 shots and getting stuck with the loss.

Dylan Burton added an insurance marker in the third for Flin Flon, beating Klipper backup Billy Girard with a seeing-eye wrist shot. Dawson McKenzie lead the way for the Bombers with two points.

Newton got the win in the Bomber net, making 36 saves during a busy night. Girard finished with 21 saves.

Emotions ran high in the second period, with several players on both teams looking to take a pound of flesh. Bomber defenseman Isaac Jackson and Klipper Josh Fletcher were ejected from the game after fighting in the second period.

Several full-on scrums broke out in the latter half of the game. Klipper Austin Nault was ejected for checking from behind after pushing a speeding Bomber player into a goalpost.  Later in the third, Kindersley forward Eddie May crashed into Newton, earning himself two penalties on the play and a round of punches from angry Bombers.

The two teams combined for 74 penalty minutes on the night - a total that could have easily be higher.

The Bombers and Klippers will head back to the Whitney Forum for round two on Saturday night. The Bombers will then head south for a six-game, ten-day road trip before returning to the Whitney on Oct. 27 against the Weyburn Red Wings.
