Jonathon Naylor Editor Outshot, outscored and outplayed, the struggling Flin Flon Bombers lost their seventh and eighth straight games to the league-leading Humboldt Broncos over the weekend. On home ice for both games, the Bombers lost 5-2 Friday and 7-2 Saturday as the Broncos nearly doubled Flin Flon's shot total. The losses kept the Bombers in fifth place in the Bauer Conference, making it increasingly likely Flin Flon will enter the playoffs through the Survivor Series rather than the conference semi-finals. At no point did the Bombers hold the lead as injuries continued to keep three key players _ centre Dylan Balaski and wingers Jesse Mysiorek and Landon Hiebert _ out of the lineup. Coach Mike Reagan continued his strategy of rotation in net, giving Devin Buffalo the start Friday and Andy Desautels the nod Saturday. Between them they stopped 12 of 89 shots, while the Bombers scored four times on 46 shots. 19th of season Centreman Brett Penner (David Roper, Tanner Clark) notched his 19th of the season Friday, while D-man Brandt Weldon (Andrew Allan, Dallen Hall) earned his ninth of the campaign. Weldon (Penner, Dillan McCombie) scored his 10th of the season on Saturday as Konrad Litke (McCombie, James McNulty) managed his ninth. Humboldt was solid on the powerplay both nights, going three for five Friday and one for three Saturday. The Bombers were held scoreless in two man-advantage opportunities Friday and another three the following night. Only one Bomber _ busy netminder Buffalo _ earned one of the six Three Star slots up for grabs. Friday saw Flin Flon rack up 52 minutes in penalties compared to 34 for Humboldt. Things were calmer Saturday as the Bombers had just 10 penalty minutes versus 12 for their opponents. Doing the most time for the Bombers were Tanner Clark and Brock Hounsell, who on Friday each took 15 minutes apiece for fighting majors and game misconducts. An announced crowd of 1,013 took in Friday's game, with 667 out Saturday. Attendance includes season ticket holders regardless of whether they attend. The Bombers were scheduled to take on the Millionaires in Melville last night, after The Reminder went to press.
