The Flin Flon Bombers were shut out 3-0 by the Weyburn Red Wings and also by their recent roadtrip Oct. 26 to 30. The only thing Bomber interim coach/GM Brad Snyder was disappointed with against the Red Wings was his offense. "It was probably our best defensive game all year," Synder says. "It amazes me that we can score five or six goals, but none on the man-advantage." The team continues to struggle on the man-advantage, as they went 0-7. The penalty kill did a good job, going 4-4. In their game against the Notre Dame Hounds, the Bombers allowed three power-play goals. The Bombers allowed a short-handed goal against the Red Wings to Kent Lillejord, but that was the result of a defenseman losing an edge . Snyder says he experimented having different players on the power-play and the results were the same with good puck movement but no finish. There were a few moments when the team got the puck to the net. Zane Kalemba started and finished the game, as he faced 27 shots, stopping 24. Prior to that, Kalemba had been pulled in back-to-back games against La Ronge and the Estevan Bruins, where the Bombers played their first game of the trip. "Zane played an excellent and our goalies played exceptionally throughout," Snyder says. "Goaltending is solid." The Bombers' interim coach says his team needs to find a happy medium with scoring and playing defensively. The Bombers have made it more challenging, but not impossible, to catch the Melfort Mustangs for fourth position. Both teams have played 17 games, only the Mustangs have an 8-8-0-1 record while the Bombers are 3-13-0-1. "We have to come out firing on all cylinders," Snyder says, on the next home stand this weekend. "Guys have to score more and play solid defense." Snyder stressed that he wants to see a full 60-minute effort by his team, as that didn't happen on the road in their previous losses to the Estevan Bruins 9-6 and the Notre Dame Hounds 6-3. In both games the Bombers had strong starts.
