The Bombers headed to Kindersley Wednesday night in search of a much needed win against the Klippers. As of press time Friday, the Bombers, in the Itech Conference, sat at 14-9-0-1, while the Klippers, in the Sherwood Conference, held their place with a 13-10-0-2 record. Both teams sat in third place in their conference, although Flin Flon had 29 points while the Klippers were only seeing 28. The Bombers took to the ice against the Klippers Wednesday night in hopes of taking over the scoreboard and that's just what they did with a 6-3 win. The first period was jam-packed with goals and only one penalty, something the team hasn't seen for a while now. Dennis Kubat got things started with a goal after only 2:29 of play in the game with help from Reid MacLeod and Myles Masse, making the score 1-0 for the visiting team. Three minutes later Pierre-Luc Boucher came back and gave a boost to the Bombers' comfort zone making it 2-0 with the help of line mates Cameron MacKinnon and David Linsley. The Klippers decided they wanted in on the action as they broke the 2-0 barrier with a goal from Jonathon Redlick, which was assisted by Brett Leedahland Ryan Sawka 8:25 into the period. The Maroon and White got back on the wagon as Scott Day found the back of the net giving the Bombers a 3-1 lead over the home team. Assisting Day's goal were Cole Wilson and Harley Garrioch. With one second left to go in the period, Kubat, with help from Boucher, lit the lantern for a 4-1 lead at the end of the first period. Flin Flon had 11 shots on net, not bad considering four of them went in, but the Klippers did manage to out-shoot them by one, giving them 12 shots on Calvin Bartel. The second period saw little action as there were no goals and only three penalties, all belonging to the Bombers. After only 48 seconds into the period, Brennan Cox saw the inside of the box for two minutes after being called on for tripping. Next up was MacLeod after 1:22 for tripping as well. Near the end of the period Kubat had his two minutes off ice for a hooking call. The third period was when things started to pick up again, giving the Bombers a couple more goals. They wasted no time as Barrett Penner found the back of the net after 4:17 of play, giving the Bombers a 5-1 advantage, although the score didn't stay that way for too long as the Klippers found their feet for the second time that night getting one past Bartel, bringing the score a little closer. Four minutes later, at 18:13, the home team once again got a goal past Bartel, but it was the last goal of the game. Taking after Kubat in the first period, Boucher scored his second goal of the game with only one second remaining in the third period. An unassisted goal by Boucher gave the Bombers a final win of 6-3, earning themselves another two points. The Bombers are home tonight to take on the Humboldt Broncos and again Tuesday night to challenge the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
