The Flin Flon Bombers started their first southern swing of the season right with two wins in two games. The Bombers first defeated the Melville Millionaires 7-4 last Tuesday night, Oct. 15 and then defeated the Estevan Bruins 3-1 the following night. Head coach and GM Mike Reagan said before the games that he hoped to end the series at above .500. Heading into the weekend's two games, played after The Reminder went to press, the Bombers were looking good. The team made a big move in the Sherwood Division as they moved from last place to second with 10 points. After Wednesday's game, the Bombers were four points behind the Division leading La Ronge Ice Wolves and sat with a record of 5-3-0-0. The Maroon and White were back in action Friday and Saturday to finish their first road series of the season. The were up against the Weyburn Red Wings Friday as they looked towards their second win against the team this month. Saturday night, the Bombers took on the Hounds for their first time of the season. Games took place after The Reminder went to press, Thursday, but things were looking good for the Maroon and White. Devin Buffalo was back between the pipes Wednesday as he turned away 33 shots from the Bruins _ allowing just one past in the third period. Buffalo was recently named as the Goaltender of the Week by the SJHL and proved himself, again, Wednesday. Parker Evans-Campbell got the scoring going in the first period at 19:33 to take a late lead in the game _ with help from Danys Chartrand. The second period saw another late goal _ on a power play _ from Brock Hounsell at 19:44 with help from Cam Blair and Brett Boehm. The two late goals were given a run for their money in the third period as the Bruins made it a 2-1 game _ in favor of Flin Flon _ at 4:25. Blair picked up the empty-net goal at 19:30 to make it a 3-1 game against the Bruins. Buffalo saw 34 shots Wednesday night as the Bombers fired off 34 _ and one empty-netter _ to goaltender Matt Gibney.
