Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Flin Flon Bombers and the Battlefords North Stars begin their fight for a playoff spot tonight. With home ice advantage, the North Stars enter the Elimination Series in fourth place in the Bauer Conference with 55 points Ð just three points above the Bombers, who sit in fifth. The Bombers and North Stars will compete in a best-of-five series for their place in the Conference Semi Final series against the La Ronge Ice Wolves. The Ice Wolves, last season, made their way to the RBC after fighting in the Elimination Series. This season, the Bombers hope to keep their season going. Tonight, the teams will compete in game one of the series with the second game getting underway tomorrow night in the same barn. The Bombers will have their chance to host the North Stars on Monday. Depending on how the games go this weekend, the Bombers will host Tuesday night before heading to Battleford on Thursday, if needed. In the Sherwood Conference, the battle is on between the fourth-place Estevan Bruins and the fifth-place Melville Millionaires. In the Sherwood Conference, the winner of the Elimination Series will take on the Yorkton Terriers Ð leaving the Kindersley Klippers and the Weyburn Red Wings to fight for their next spot in the playoffs. For the Bauer Conference, second place Melfort Mustangs will take on the Humboldt Broncos in their first round of the playoffs. Bombers vs North Stars Ending their regular seasons on Tuesday, the Bombers sat with 25 wins, 31 losses, two overtime losses and 52 points in 58 games. The North Stars, in 58 games, had 26 wins and 29 losses with two overtime losses and one shootout loss for 55 points. For the Millionaires and Bruins, 12 points separated the teams. Estevan sat with 64 points after 58 games; 29 wins, 23 losses, four overtime losses and two shootout losses. Melville, on the other hand, had 52 points from 58 games; 24 wins, 30 loses, one overtime loss and three shootout losses. The Elimination Series is slated to end no later then March 3 with the best-of-seven Conference Semifinals starting up March 4 and going no later than March 15.
