Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Riley Storzuk earned the lone shootout goal against the Weyburn Red Wings to give his Flin Flon Bombers a 4-3 victory last Saturday. The win gave the Bombers a split of their weekend road games, as they lost 6-4 the previous night to the Estevan Bruins. The weekend split meant a split of the four road games _ two wins and two losses _ the Bombers played throughout the week. Saturday, it was a 3-3 tie going into overtime as Storzuk was the lone scorer in the shootout. Tanner Clark picked up a big goal at the 59-second mark of the first period to start the scoring against the Weyburn. Josh Roach and Andy Blanke were there to pick up the assists for the only Flin Flon marker of the opening period. Weyburn's Ty McLean got one past Brandon Wildung to tie the game at 19:24, on a power play, in the first. The second period saw two more goals to again tie the game. Weyburn took the lead at 5:26 before Dylan Balaski tied it at 17:44 with a power play marker. Roach picked up another assist, with the second going to Brett Boehm. Storzuk earned Flin Flon's third goal of the night at 4:22 in the third period to take the lead once again. Weyburn's third goal came at 6:25, on a power play, to make it 3-3. Boehm and Balaski were first up for the Bombers in the shootout, but couldn't get past Weyburn's Jean-Phillippe Boucher. Flin Flon surpassed Weyburn by 10 shots throughout the game. The Bombers earned 40 shots over the Red Wings' 30 throughout regulation time and overtime. The Maroon and White capitalized on one of their seven power play chances as the Red Wings were 2-6 with the man advantage. Heading into Weyburn, the Bombers were coming off a 6-4 loss against the Estevan Bruins. The Bruins were up 3-0 in the first period over Flin Flon. Spencer Mault scored Flin Flon's first goal at 13:48 of the first period. Roach was second on the score sheet at 14:50 with a power play marker to make it 3-2 at the end of the first period in favour of the Bruins. The second period saw Storzuk closing the gap and tying the game at 4:18. Estevan picked up the tiebreaker at 6:19 to take the lead again with another goal coming in at 7:05 to add to the Bruins' lead. Bomber head coach and GM Mike Reagan pulled starter Devin Buffalo as Wildung was sent between the pipes. Flin Flonner Dillan McCombie narrowed Estevan's lead to 5-4 at 18:48 for the visiting team's last goal of the game. Estevan had one more goal in them as they scored the lone goal in the third period to make it a 6-4 game at 4:40. Split Series The Bombers started their latest four-game road trip in Melville on Jan. 22, losing 3-2. They won 7-2 in Notre Dame on Jan. 23 before last Friday's loss and Saturday's win.. Flin Flon is back on the road this weekend as they travel to Humboldt Friday and the Battlefords the next night. The Bombers host their next home game on Friday, Feb. 8 as they welcome the North Stars. The next night, the Maroon and White will travel to Melfort to compete againist Mustangs.
