The Flin Flon Bombers have spent their last few games reaching and sinking below the .500 mark.
After splitting a pair of games on the road, the Bombers are back to having an even record.
Tuesday night, the Bombers took a 3-0 loss against the Nipawin Hawks before heading to Humboldt the next night.
Wednesday’s game saw the Maroon and White pick up a 3-1 victory over the Broncos.
After 14 games, the Bombers sit at 7-7-0-0 with 14 points, good for third place in the Sherwood Conference.
Devin Buffalo was a wall for the Bombers as he stopped 54 of the 57 shots.
The Hawks picked up two markers in the first period and one shorthanded goal in the second frame to win the game.
The Bombers fired off 23 shots on the Hawks but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Penalties came often in the third period as the Bombers served six in the final frame.
Landon Hiebert found himself in the sin bin for crosschecking and getting a five-minute major for fighting.
Danys Chartrand landed himself in the box after a spearing call while Evan Akkerman was called out for slashing.
Conner Bass picked up the most severe penalty, a 10-minute misconduct.
The Hawks were also frequent offenders in the third period, receiving seven penalty calls.
The Bombers learned from their mistakes from Tuesday night as they handed the Broncos a 3-1 defeat.
A scoreless first period saw the Bombers capitalize twice in the second frame to make it 2-0.
Parker Evans-Campbell earned the first marker of the night as 12:04 with help from Al Kapcheck and Austin Calladine.
The lead was soon 2-0 as Cam Blair found the back of the net at 12:24 with help from Brody Robinson and Brock Hounsell.
Blair earned the team’s final goal in the third period as he made it a 3-0 game at 3:05.
The Broncos found their way onto the scoreboard at 4:23 but weren’t able to get past Simon Hofley again. The Bomber goaltender stopped 27 of 28 shots throughout the game.
The busiest period for Hofley was the second, when he faced 12 shots.
The Bombers managed a few more shots as Cade Spencer turned away 32 of the team’s 35 shots.
Though it was scoreless, the first period had the most chances for the Bombers, who managed 14 shots on net.
The Bombers now have a week off as they prepare for the Broncos on home ice for Nov. 8.
