The Flin Flon Bombers are back to winning ways after beating Notre Dame 5-3 Saturday night.
It was the Bomber power play that grabbed the spotlight, with each of Flin Flon's first three goals coming with the team a man up. Captain Ben Lanfermann started the ball rolling midway through the first, while Caleb Moretz added two more goals with the man advantage in the second period.
Nick Shumlanski and Chrystopher Collin added third period markers for the Bombers, giving them a 5-0 lead halfway through the third period.
Despite the commanding lead, Notre Dame clawed back late, with Zach Kosteniuk, Chance Longjohn and Chaz Smedsrud all adding goals in the final moments. Longjohn and Smedrud's goals each came in the final minute of play.
Moretz led the way for the Bombers with a four-point night, while Shumlanski added two assists along with his goal. Bomber 'tender Niklas Anderson earned his first SJHL win, making 19 saves. Notre Dame's Jacob Standen made 24 stops.
The win snaps the Bombers' eight-game losing streak, giving them their first win since Oct. 6 against Kindersley. Flin Flon still sits in third in the Sherwood Division with 15 points, five points behind second-place Nipawin.
The Bombers will try to add another entry in the win column Wednesday night at home against the league-leading Melfort Mustangs.
