Four new players have already committed to join the Flin Flon Bombers next season.
The first signing of the year following the team’s spring camp was announced May 12, with the club signing forward Tristan Lemyre. Lemyre played last season with the Halifax-based Newbridge Academy midget prep program. Lemyre scored 17 points in 12 games last season playing in two different leagues.
The 18-year-old is a diminutive forward, with most recent measurements having him at 5-foot-8-inches in height and 155 pounds. Lemyre was selected in the 2018 QMJHL Entry Draft, going in the seventh round to the Victoriaville Tigres.
Lemyre is an alumnus of the Saint-Eustache Vikings, a Quebec midget AAA team that has also produced current Bomber forwards Chrystopher Collin and Vincent Nardone. Lemyre played the 2017-18 season with Nardone as members of the the Vikings roster. Only 16 years old at the start of the season, Lemyre tallied 31 points in 40 games with Saint-Eustache, only four points behind Nardone.
Defenceman Jack Craycroft was also signed by the team following spring camp. The 19-year-old defenceman from Ankley, Iowa played last season with the Iowa Wild AAA program, playing in 55 games and collecting 14 points.
With two seasons of junior eligibility remaining, Craycroft’s 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame will bring some size to the Bomber defence, which saw four regular players from last year either age out of junior or leave for collegiate play. Craycroft signed with the Bombers May 14.
Another signing was announced May 16, with the Bombers reeling in prospect forward Mason Kaspick. The 18-year-old from Brandon played last season with the midget AAA Brandon Wheat Kings, scoring 35 points in 41 games and scoring at a point-per-game pace during an 11-game run to a provincial midget championship. Kaspick is the younger brother of former Brandon Wheat Kings captain Tanner Kaspick, a St. Louis Blues draft pick.
The Bombers also confirmed the signing of 18-year-old forward Shayde Peterson. Originally from Assiniboia, Sask., Peterson is fresh off a 50-point, 20-goal season with the Battlefords Stars midget AAA program, where he captained his team and led them in scoring. A former teammate of Bomber forward Matt Flodell, the 5-foot-11-inch, 185-pound forward suited up in one game as an affiliated player, scoring a goal.
