The Flin Flon Bombers were back on the ice Saturday night seeking revenge over the Kindersley Klippers. Bomber goalie Carsen Chubak (29) got his first shutout of the season, leaving the scoreboard blank for the Klippers. The maroon and white slapped their sticks around the moose leg in a 4-0 victory. Chubak stood solid in between the pipes, stopping all 41 shots by the Klippers. The Bombers and Klippers played the first part of the first period with little less than some penalties. Bomber Brennan Cox (25) sat his two minutes in the box at 7:42 for interference. Next in the box was Klipper Jade Dunsen for holding. The first goal of the night was scored by Bomber Reid Macleod (18), scoring his 13th goal of the season. The goal was assisted by Pierre-Luc Boucher (44) and captain Dennis Kubat (39) after 17:05 of play. Klipper Casey Rempel spent two minutes off the ice for hooking at a time of 12:43, while at 16:40 Klipper Jeremy Beller was sentenced to two minutes in the box for cross checking. Seconds after the Bombers first goal of the night Dennis Kubat (39) was sent to the penalty box for interfering with a goalie. And as far as the scoreboard was concerned, the first period was over. The Bombers had 15 shots on Klipper goalie Ryan Niezner, while Kindersley managed eight shots on Chubak. In the second period David Linsley (41) received his penalty for cross checking. Just before the Bombers' second goal of the night, Klipper Mat Olsen was put in the box for tripping, at 4:39. Then at 5:01 Bomber Dennis Kubat put the puck past the Kindersley goalie, bringing the score to 2-0. With the scoring done in the second period, only a few penalties remained for both the Bombers and the Klippers. First off was Klipper Travis Eggum, getting two minutes for roughing after the whistle at 7:57. The Bombers finished off the period with two penalties. Dustyn Clegg (28) was in the box first for two minutes with interference at 15:18, while Kirk Moore (2) was given two minutes for hooking at a time of 18:55. The Bombers came back in the third period with a bang. Scoring the third goal of the night, and his second, was Reid Macleod (18) at 8:59. Seconds later David Linsley (41) scored the final goal of the evening, ending the game at 4-0. Penalties in the third period were few and far between. Kindersley got things started after only 3:32 of play, putting Kirk Pierce in the box for two minutes for tripping. A couple of minutes later the KIippers saw Casey Rempel back in the box for two minutes for tripping. Ending out the third period was Bomber J.M Allard (24) for interference at 12:40. Coach Mike Reagan says they didn't change their game plan, referring to Friday night's loss, but he says, "We just didn't have the same intensity (last night)." And according to Reagan, if the guys show up for a game "in full, they should win 95 per cent of the time." Reagan says at Friday night's game, they just didn't show up in full, "but tonight's effort was better." Goalie Calvin Bartel (35) is out from an ankle injury, but he was back at practice recently. And with Chubak playing so well, Reagan says it depends on how Bartel is feeling as to who will play next. "But Carsen is doing really well (in net)," he says. Reagan says it was his intention to play Bartel and Carsen both evenly, but it really depends on Bartel to know what is going to happen. Reid Macleod (18) scored his 13th and 14th goals of the season Saturday night, leaving him feeling pretty good, but the humble player says he has some good guys out there with him. "I've got really good linesmen, so it helps a lot," he says. What's next for Macleod? He says he's just going to "enjoy the rest of the season." "This is a big step up from last season," he says. "And when you win a game, you just want to get back out there (the next day) and play again." The Bombers hit the road Wednesday to play the Humboldt Broncos, which Reagan says will be another big test for the guys. "They are one of the top teams, so it will be a good test," he says. "And then we play (the) Melville (Millionaires) next week, so playing top teams is good for us." Speaking of top teams, the Bombers sat in second place, and were later tied for second place in the SJHL standings, as of October 12. Reagan says "We're happy to be in the top, but everything is really tight right now so you've got to get a point every night or you fall." But the coach says, "It's still early in the season."
