After Friday's game, the Bombers were hoping for something a little more encouraging for Saturday night against the La Ronge Ice Woles. The team came out with a 6-4 win the night before, but were looking for the solid effort to go with the win now. Matt Weninger stood between the pipes, both nights, and was able to shut out the Ice Wolves as the Bombers earned nine goals against them Saturday night. Coming back into the game they were there to play, the Bombers left the Whitney Forum feeling confident and ready. After Friday's game, head coach and GM Mike Reagan said he was expecting a better effort from the team. "In fact, I demand it," he said. As for what the difference in the game was going to be, Reagan said after Friday's game, the "guys better come out with a better effort, compete harder and play harder." The coach seemed to get through to the team as they came out with a good effort and were there for all the right reasons. Though the first few minutes were a little slow, the Bombers picked up their pace. And according to Reagan, the Bombers had no excuse not to win. The Ice Wolves "were a glorified midget team," says the coach, noting that they had a number of players brought up to play in the double-header. "They needed to show up to get their two points," he says. Looking between Friday and Saturday night's games, Reagan says the difference was about how hungry the team was the latter night. "We played to our potential," he says. As for playing to their potential, the Bombers have had an undefeated month in regulation time Ð which was the goal set out at the beginning of the month. Reagan says with setting goals along the way, it shows that the team isn't just going through the motions of getting into play-offs, but they are able to compete as well. And keeping with playing to his potential, Josh Garneau said after two games and five goals, he was pretty pleased. "I've been waiting," he says. And although he doesn't call himself a goal scorer, he does say he's "worth more than two goals." The following is a scoring summary for the Bombers: Michael Young started the scoring off for the Maroon and White with help from Ben Bitz just shy of the 13 minute mark in the first period. A few minutes later, Garneau earned the team's second goal with help from Alex Lamontagne and Tommy Castonguay to end out the first 20 minutes of play. Coming in for the second period, Mathiew Lecours opened fire with a pass from Young and Castonguay at the 5:19 mark. And seconds later Ð at 5:41 Ð Castonguay pulled through with the team's fourth goal with help from Tanner Korchinski and Kevin Carpenter. Next up for the Bombers, on a power play, Young earned his second goal of the night with help from Cole Wilson and Lecours. Wrapping up the second period, Castonguay was on his second goal of the night after accepting the puck from Lamontagne and Young. And starting the third period off right, captain Harley Garrioch earned his two points of the night with help from Garneau. The goals kept coming for the Bombers as Castonguay earned his third of the night and the team's eighth with help fromYoung and Korchinski. And lighting the lantern for the last time that night,Garneau had his second goal of the night with a pass from Doug McLeod and Young.
