A competition that many local hockey fans only get to see on television was brought to the Whitney Forum as the Bombers dressed Ð some a little more unorthodox than others Ð for their first Skills Competition. Coming out of the dressing room after hearing their name announced by CFAR's Rob Hart, the boys in Maroon and White lined up on the blue line before getting to the tasks ahead of them. Some players dawned their own jerseys and helmets while others found older articles of clothing to impress the crowd Ð mostly looking for a laugh or two. Though this is the team's first event like this, head coach and GM Mike Reagan says it's not the first time the idea has come up, noting that the guys have asked about the competition in the past. As well as the boys being able to show off their talents and skill in the puck handling section, fastest skater and hardest shot, the fans were able to meet the team face-to-face afterwards. "It's a good opportunity for the fans to meet the guys," says Reagan, adding that this won't be the last competition for the team. For the first year, roughly 150 fans made their way out to watch the team mates compete for fastest skater, breakaway and team's of three titles. Though the competition let the guys see where they placed among each other, Reagan said the event was more for "entertainment value."
