After defeating the Yorkton Terriers at home Friday night, the Bombers went on the road Saturday to take on the Ice Wolves in La Ronge, where the Maroon and White once again took ownership and closed out the home team in their own barn. The Bombers edged out the Ice Wolves 4-3, and right from the first period there was plenty of scoring and penalties. Starting the period off was Joel Belair with a two minute penalty for slashing after only 3:11 of play. Flin Flon's David Linsley got his own penalty, two minutes for roughing and a 10 minute misconduct. Bombers Pierre-Luc Boucher and Robert Beaudry helped Dominic Martel score the first goal of the game, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. Just four seconds later, Ice Wolf Joseph Cook was called on fighting and was given five minutes in the box. Not too much longer into the game, at 8:05 to be exact, a whole stream of penalties came along. Both teams had three players sent to the box. First up was Ice Wolf Bruno-Pier Gosselin for unsportsmanlike conduct for four minutes and five minutes for fighting. Jules Boucher, also with La Ronge, was given 10 minutes for misconduct while Flin Flon's David Dykstra was given 10 minutes for misconduct, two minutes for roughing, two minutes for instigating and five minutes for fighting. Next for La Ronge, Jesse Bannerman was handed a 10 minute misconduct as well as five minutes for fighting. La Ronge's Floyd Cook was given his 10 minutes for a misconduct as well as five minutes for boarding. Bomber Cameron MacKinnon had a 10 minute misconduct, two minutes for roughing and five minutes for roughing while Kory Gursky served his 10 minutes for misconduct as well. At the 8:05 mark, the teams got things going again with La Ronge scoring their first goal of the game to tie things up at one apiece. Bomber Reid MacLeod was up next for the penalty box, serving his two minutes for slashing, leaving the Ice Wolves on the power play. The Bombers worked on their penalty kill and didn't let the opposing team take them down. Just over a minute later, Bomber captain Dennis Kubat put the puck past the goalie to light the lantern once again. Assisting in Kubat's goal were both Boucher and Myles Masse. With the score now 2-1 for the visiting team, the Ice Wolves couldn't get past Bartel for the rest of the first period. A few more penalties and a final goal and the first 20 minutes of play were over. Sitting in the box for the Bombers were Brennan Cox for slashing and MacLeod for interference, while the Ice Wolves saw Calvin Fiddler called on interference and Jordie Johnston got two minutes for roughing after the whistle. La Ronge's last penalty of the period went to Stearling Bear for slashing. Just before the first period wrapped up, MacLeod mangled the mesh with help from Cox and Boucher. See 'Penalties' on pg. Continued from pg. Heading into the second period with a 3-1 for the Bombers, goals were few and far between as the Ice Wolves scored the only goal of the period, bringing the score to 3-2. As you might have guessed, there were a few penalties as well. First up was Bomber Harley Garrioch for hooking just three minutes into the period. La Ronge's Bear was given two minutes for interference at 7:37 while Fiddler was also given 10 minutes for a misconduct. Flin Flon goalie Bartel was blocked, giving the Ice Wolves a penalty for goaltender interference at 9:54 while J.M Allard was given two minutes in the box for roughing as well. At 11:15, David Dykstra was given two minutes for cross checking while the ref also put Johnston in the box for roughing after the whistle for two minutes. The period was finished up with three Bomber penalties and a goal from La Ronge. In the box for the visiting team were Beaudry, Cox and Beaudry, again for hooking. The Bombers came out in full force for the third period. With a 3-2 Flin Flon lead, Cole Wilson got the final goal for the Bombers with help from Masse after only 53 seconds of play. Before the Ice Wolves could answer back, Bomber Harley Garrioch was given two minutes for slashing giving the home team a power play. Taking the opportunity was Gosselin with help from Jarrid Dowhay and Fiddler, bringing the score to 4-3. The rest of the period saw a couple of penalties, tamer than the first period, for sure. La Ronge saw David Lawrence in the box for two minutes for cross checking. Five minutes later, Bomber Beaudry was in the box, also for cross checking, and Ice Wolf Joseph Cook sat on the other side of the glass for cross checking as well. Giving La Ronge another power play was Kubat for holding at 19:57, while two seconds later MacLeod was beside teammate Kubat for holding. As well, La Ronge's Johnston was given two minutes for roughing. A rough game all an all, but the scoreboard favoured the visiting Bombers as they drove away with a 4-3 victory under their belts.
