(20) Le College Francais de Longueuil (LHJAAAQ) The Flin Flon Bombers had a rough start to their season, but they have been able to turn a corner as of late and are lighting fires everywhere they go. The team has had some big highlights in the last few months. The Weyburn Red Wings, who claimed first place in the SJHL, were in Flin Flon for the double header weekend. Not only did the Bombers not give up their first game, or the second, for that matter, but the Bombers blew the Red Wings out of the water. Friday's game Ð played November 21 Ð the Bombers earned their two points with a convincing 12-1 win over the Red Wings. The following night, Weyburn was ready to play Ð but the Bombers were still able to come out on top with a 2-1 victory. Other highlights for the team, this far into the season, include their recent winning streak s they have been having. In November, the Bombers went on a six-game winning streak Ð cleaning up the month with a record of 7-3-0. As well as picking up their pace on the ice, the Bombers picked up a few new faces Ð giving them a lead in numbers on the charts. Hometown boy Ryan Fox joined the Bombers as well as Flin Flonner Derek Ginnell, grandson of the late Paddy Ginnell Ð a former Bomber coach. Mike Rey made a big splash in the Bomber pool as the former Hawk has been on fire for the Bombers. As well, the Maroon and White added Taylor Thiessen to their line up. While gaining these players, the Bombers said goodbye to a few players as well Ð Ryan Kerpan and Devin Mitzner, just to name a few. As of press time Friday, the Bombers had two games left in the 2009 portion of the season. They sat with 5-1-1 record for the month of December and held first place of the SJHL with lead role by one point from the Red Wings. (Numbers in brackets represent the place of the team from the week before.)
