The Flin Flon Bombers were able to carry the momentum from Friday's win over to Saturday night, coming out on top 4-2 against the Estevan Bruins. Flin Flon coach and GM Mike Reagan said taking on a team two consecutive nights is always difficult Ð but the Bombers were able to pull through. "Often when you beat a team, it's harder to beat them the next night," he said. "It's tougher to beat them the next night because no team wants to lose two in a row." But the Bombers were on their game and wanted it more than the visitors, though Saturday wasn't a blow-out game full of excitement. Reagan said the team "did enough to win." Coming off a high from Friday's 5-2 win against Estevan, the Bombers were looking to secure a winning streak. As they had Friday, the Bombers hoped to find themselves up at the end of the first period Ð which they did. Going into the first intermission, the Bombers led 3-1. Earning goals for the Bombers were Andrew Johnston (Devin Mitzner), Jeff Lorenz (David Roper) and, on the power play, Mitzner (Patrick Sitko and Michael Young). "I think it was a weird game," said Reagan. "I thought it was going to have a lot of intensity, but it really didn't. "I thought it was a slow game." Even though the Bombers didn't put their best foot forward, they were still the better team of the night and were able to walk away with the win. "I didn't think we forechecked as well as we did (Friday) night and we didn't skate (as well)," Reagan said. "It just wasn't as exciting of a game as it was last night," he said after Saturday's game. Both the Bombers and the Bruins were able to score one last goal in the second period. Earning a marker for the Maroon and White was Mitzner (Mathieu Lecours and Lorenz) late in the period. Previous to Saturday's game, Reagan spoke about the importance of getting on a good winning streak. With three wins under their belts, the coach can now count that as an official streak. See 'Been' on pg. Continued from pg. "We need to do that in order to stay in first place," he said. "We've been back and forth and that sort of thing, but you need to get on a four- or five-game winning streak." Alongside the Bombers, the North Stars, Ice Wolves and Broncos have also been playing well of late. With three consecutive home wins taken care of, Reagan said his team was focusing everything on last night's road game in Nipawin. "If we can get a win on the road, that puts us at four wins coming home with Notre Dame," he said, referring to the game this Friday night against the Hounds. The Bombers now have an impressive 7-1 home record. "I like the odds of us continuing and getting up to a five-game winning streak," Reagan said. Last night's game was going to be an important one, he said. "They (Nipawin) are a team that is lacking confidence right now and it's important to jump on them early," Reagan said. Reagan said though the Hawks' confidence level is down right now, the Bombers still have a few obstacles of their own to overcome. "We're hoping to get there a little early to get the bus legs out," he said, noting that sitting on a bus for five hours takes its toll. "It's going to be important for us to get out and make sure we are ready to go," he said. Reagan liked how his team was feeling. "I think it comes down to being confident," he said. "Our guys feel pretty good with themselves right now and we're not going to worry about (the other team)." By putting the Hawks out of their minds, the Bombers are able to concentrate on their game. "We're a team that is very deep. We've got a lot of skilled players and if we worry about ourselves and make sure we are ready to play, I think everything will take care of itself."
