The Flin Flon Bombers are shifting their sights to a delectable fundraiser. The organization will be hosting a wine tasting event next Wednesday to help generate funds for the off-season. Of the 150 tickets available, Bomber Office Manager Karen Bettger said roughly 100 had been sold as of Monday. The wine tasting will be held at the Flin Flon Community Hall in the R.H. Channing Auditorium. Upon entering the event, guests will be given a wine glass and the opportunity to taste wine from 13 different wineries. â??Each (winery) will have four samples at their station that people can try,â?ù said Bettger. Guests will also learn about the different types of wines they are sampling. Tickets for the event, presented by Manitoba Liquor Marts, are available to those 18 years of age and older. â??Itâ??s (a night) for people who enjoy a glass of wine (and) would like to learn more about wine,â?ù said Bettger. All wine sampled next week will be available at Manitoba Liquor Marts. Wines from Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, California, Chile, Argentina, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal will be up for tasting. â??There is a great variety of samples for people to try,â?ù said Bettger. Tickets are available at the Flin Flon Bomber Office as well as the local Liquor Mart. The event takes place Wednesday from 7-9:30 p.m. with tickets being sold until the day of the event. This yearâ??s event will be the second for the Bombers as the organization held a similar function two years ago. However this yearâ??s event will focus on sampling the wine as the previous event was more educational. The wine tasting will offer cheese platters as well as appetizers. â??Itâ??s a great night of food and wine,â?ù said Bettger. The Bombers organization encourages all guests attending the event to arrange for a safe ride home. As well, the night will have a Toonie parade to raise further funds for the organization. â??Itâ??s the perfect Fatherâ??s Day gift,â?ù said Bettger.
