Flin Flon Bomber Mike McKinna will be a fan at the Saskatoon Showcase instead of playing. The Bomber forward suffered a shoulder injury in the first period of the home-opener against La Ronge and is listed as day-to-day. McKinna explained his disappointment. "It's the Showcase, the scouts are there," says McKinna on Tuesday. "It's still really sore and pretty stiff," he says. The only thing McKinna can do to help heal his shoulder is put ice on it and exercise. While his teammates practice, he's left as an observer. Bombers coach/GM Ryan Hoffman isn't concerned about his player's injury. Hoffman stated that McKinna will be out one to two weeks. His injury leaves a spot open on the top three lines, which will be filled by rookie Darryl Finnerty. "Darryl's a different type of player than Mike," Hoffman explains. "He's got a little more skill, but we got him on a line there with Groenewegen, who should maybe give Darryl a little bit of room and we'll see if he can carry over his offensive touch into the regular season."
