The Flin Flon Bombers downedthe Yorkton Terriers Wednesday night in the Whitney Forum in front of a smaller than usual crowd. The Bombers now sit in third place in the Itech Conference after a 6-4 win. Bomber goalie Carsen Chubak led the team to the ice for his third game in a row. According to coach Mike Reagan, winning Wednesday's game was another "big win for us." "Finding a way to win is the most important thing," he adds. And the Bombers seemed to have found that niche, as they have won the last three games they've played. The Terriers got the scoring started in the first period just 2:57 into the game, but captain Dennis Kubat (39) scored the Bombers' first goal just minutes after, tying the score at one a piece. Kubat's goal was assisted by Pierre-Luc Boucher (44) and Reid Macleod (18). While the puck stayed out of the net, for both teams for almost 10 minutes, both Bombers and Terriers found themselves in the penalty box. Terrier Michael Trebish sat in the box for holding, while Bomber Robert Beaudry (22) joined him on the other side of the glass just minutes later for holding as well. Yorkton's Jeff Steele spent two minutes in the box for slashing as Derek Serdochny, also of the Terriers, spent two minutes in the box for interference, leaving the Bombers on a power play, which they took full advantage of. Pierre-Luc Boucher (44) scored on the power play, bringing the score to 2-1 for the Bombers. Boucher's goal was assisted by Dustyn Clegg (28) and Dennis Kubat (39). Time of the goal was 15:55. The Bombers received two more penalties less than three minutes later. The first one went to Myles Masse (15) for interference, at 17:05, while the second was given to Bomber Dennis Kubat (39) for slashing, at a time of 17:23. Wrapping up the first period, the Terriers scored their second goal of the game tying the score up at 2-2. The goal was scored by Chris Bratina at 18:33. The Terriers received the final penalty of the first period putting Kyle Block behind the glass for holding, at a time of 19:06. Bomber captain Dennis Kubat (39) got into a fight with Terrier Greg Coburn. Each player received five minutes for fighting and a 10 minute game misconduct, while Coburn was also given two minutes for instigating. The second period started off with a bang as Michael Young (6) put the puck in the net after only 00:18 of play. Young's goal was assisted by David Linsley (41) and Tommy Castonguay (19), bringing the score to 3-2, for the Bombers. Just 2:04 into the second period Reid Macleod was given a penalty, giving the Terriers a power play. As luck and skill from the Bombers, would have it, the Terriers were unable to get past goalie Chubak. And just seconds after the penalty, Bomber David Linsley (41) was put in he box for slashing at 2:29. Flin Flon had a rough patch in the second period, getting another penalty, this time for holding, by both Myles Masse (15) and Harley Garrioch (47). After almost 16 minutes of play, the Terriers snuck their third goal of the night past Chubak, bringing the score to 3-3, ending the second period. The third period was started off by Yorkton, scoring their fourth and final goal of the night. There were only three penalties in the third period, all for the Terriers. The first one went to Derek Serdachny for interference and also to Kirk Bycznynski for unsportsmanlike conduct. Both penalties were 4:23 into the period. The third penalty went to Chris Cook. The Bombers ended the third period with a goal by Reid MacLeod (18) assisted by Pierre-Luc Boucher (44) and Harley Garrioch (47). With the score 4-4, the Bombers and Terriers prepared for overtime. After five minutes of play with four-on-four, the score still remained 4-4. Chubak prepared for a shootout, as the Terriers took their first attempt, but were unsuccessful. Pierre-Luc Boucher broke the tie in the shootout, bringing the score up to 5-4, for the Bombers. The Terriers tried once more, but Chubak was there to stop the puck once again. The weight was on Bomber Tommy Castonguay's (19) shoulders, but he didn't crack under the pressure and scored the final goal of the night, making the final score 6-4 for the home team. Goalie Carsen Chubak (29) says the game went well. "The team really stepped up and helped out a lot," says the backup goalie. After filling in for an injured Calvin Bartel (31), Chubak and the rest of the Bombers have come out on top three games in a row. He says "we've got three wins, so that's really good and we've all been playing really well." The Bombers head to Battlefords tonight to take on the North Stars, which Reagan says he's excited about. "We're looking to get revenge on the goalie," he says. "We deserved a win last time, so we're looking for it this time," says Reagan.
