Just in time for the start of the 2013-14 regular season the Flin Flon Bombers have dropped to 26 carded players. 'We made quite a few (trades),' said Reagan on Monday afternoon. The Bombers picked up Sean Whelan from OCN _ and future considerations _ for Tanner Clark and Keifer Schaufler. Whelan was originally traded from the Kindersley Klippers to the OCN Blizzard, but chose not to play with OCN. The Bombers picked up the 19-year-old with Western Hockey League experience. He dressed for 32 games with the Klippers last year, but also dressed for 11 games with the Regina Pats. As the Bombers acquired Whelan, they sent veteran Tanner Clark to OCN after careful thought. 'We were thinking about trading him this summer and we weren't able to get a deal done until now,' said Reagan. '...there was a time when we thought we would give Tanner another opportunity to play here, but this fell into our laps.' Whelan will come to the Bombers as an experienced blueliner. 'I think if there is one area that we need to improve is our defense,' said the coach. Limits Following the SJHL AGM this summer coaches from across the league voted to keep the 20-year-old limit at eight per team. The Bombers are currently sitting at their limit and Reagan says it's important to look at 19 year olds, too. 'He just fit what we're looking for and we'll give him an opportunity to play in our top four and see what he's capable of doing and make decisions from there,' said Reagan. The Bombers also traded Evan Patrick to the MJHL's Dauphin Kings for future considerations and Brent Aiken to Winkler for future considerations. The Maroon and White said goodbye to Greg Wiwcharuk this week as he was traded to North Bay, Ontario for future considerations. Comfortable Reagan says the team is looking good and won't be making any changes before the start of the regular season 'unless something falls into our laps this week.' 'We're going to start with what we've got right now and see how things go. We want to give our young guys an opportunity to prove to us that they can play and develop.'
