It was a tough week for the Flin Flon Bombers as they pulled only one win out of four games. The Maroon and White teamed up for another game on Friday night, continuing on with their road games, playing the Weyburn Red Wings. The Wings were on the ball as they shut out the Bombers 5-0. But it wasnÕt from a lack of trying, as the Bombers outshot the home team 34-32. Carsen Chubak was between the pipes for the Bombers as Weyburn saw AJ Whiffen block the net. Although there werenÕt any goals for the Bombers, they did see a number of penalties throughout the game with everything from interference, to tripping and fighting. The first period saw the teams come on strong, but the Red Wings found the back of the net early on as Erick Rudd, assisted by Scott Doody and Eric Calibaba, started the scoring off after 6:42 of play. And it would be another 10 minutes before the teamÕs next goal as it was Rhett Bly was fed by linemates Preston Shupe and Josh Bray on a power play. But the Wings werenÕt done yet as Rudd got another one past Chubak, making it 3-0 to end the first period. Kory Gursky sat his two minutes out for tripping. And it was Red Wing Justin Crickatt in the box for the home team. Myles Masse was out for slashing, giving the Red Wings their powerplay goal of the period. Chubak saw 14 shots come his way in the first 20 minutes of play, while the Bombers had nine shots on Whiffen. The second period was a little less eventful, for both teams, as the Red Wings only managed one goal. With the score 3-0, Torrey Lindsay bumped it up one, with help from Shupe and Stephen Simms. Both Cameron MacKinnon and Crokatt were given five minutes for fighting less than three minutes into the period. Red Wing Adam Feniak was called on hooking while Dennis Kubat and Bray were both given five minutes for fighting. By the end of the second period the Bombers had another 11 shots on net while Chubak stopped seven of his eight shots. The third period also only saw one goal as Bray found the back of the net, making it 5-0 for the Red Wings. But the third period was full of penalties as the Bombers were called on interference by Barrett Penner, high sticking by David Linsley and hooking by Pierre-Luc Boucher. Both Harley Garrioch and Crockatt were given a 10 minute misconduct and Penner received an unsportsmanlike conduct for two minutes. The Red Wings had Brayden Nargang in the box for holding while Feniak was behind the glass for the second time that game, this time for holding the stick. It was a close call as far as shots on net were concerned as the Bombers had another 14 on net while Chubak faced another 10. The Bombers were on the road again for Saturday nightÕs game as they traveled to Estevan to challenge the Bruins.
