Bombers, Hounds match up tomorrow

The Flin Flon Bombers are back on the ice tomorrow for their first game of the new year. The Bombers will welcome the Notre Dame Hounds as they make their 2014 debut.

The end of 2013 didn’t fare well for the Bombers as they dropped two games to the Kindersley Klippers before the Christmas break.
They now find themselves in third place in the Sherwood Division with 32 points – two points behind both the Nipawin Hawks and the Melfort Mustangs.
As of yesterday, the Hounds sat last in the SJHL, and the Kramer Division, with 29 points.
The Bombers will hit the ice with a record of 15-17-0-2 while the Hounds bring a 13-15-1-2 record.
The weekend action will be Flin Flon’s first contest since their December games before the break.
Notre Dame had a three-game road series in four nights before the break, but came up empty-handed twice.
They were shutout 6-0 from the Yorkton Terriers before earning a 7-2 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
The following night, Dec. 20, the Hounds came up short 5-4 against the Estevan Bruins in a shootout.
Flin Flon came up empty-handed in their last three games of 2013.
The Battlefords North Stars and Bombers went to extra time as the Stars won 3-2 in a shootout on Dec. 18 before the Maroon and White travelled to Kindersley.
The Dec. 20-21 games saw the Bombers down 3-1 and then 5-2 from the host team.
This month will see the Bombers welcome the Hawks on Jan. 8, the Ice Wolves on Jan. 11, and the Terriers on Jan. 17.
The Bombers will hit the road for their first away game of 2014 when they travel to Nipawin and then Melfort on Jan. 21 and 22.
