Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Flin Flon Bombers made their mark as the hottest team in the league going into the weekend. With six straight wins under their belts, the Bombers shut out the Humboldt Broncos 7-0 last Wednesday night to keep their streak alive. Going against a team that has always proved to be a tough challenge, the Bombers figured out a way to defeat the Broncos Ð and in a big way. "We're pretty happy," said head coach and GM Mike Reagan after the game. The Bombers sit 2-2 against the Broncos this season. "It seems as though we've solved the Humboldt Broncos, or figured them out a bit," Reagan said. "No solved, I shouldn't say that. "Anytime we go up against them, I'm always leery," said the coach. Respect Noting that he has a lot of respect not only for the organization, but Humboldt's coaching staff as well, Reagan says it's nice to be on the other end of the 7-0 scores. "I have to tell you, it sure feels good being on the other end at games like this against Humboldt," he said. "We've taken our fair share of licks against them. It's nice to give one back for once." P.J. Musico earned not only his first shutout of the season, but also his first SJHL shutout. "Which is awesome," said Reagan. "I think there are a lot of good things that happened tonight." Along with Musico's shutout, Andrew Johnston had three goals, defenseman Jonathan Young had another goal, Cameron Szydlowski had his first SJHL marker and Eric Millisor had two more goals. There was more praise from Reagan following the game as he said, "I thought that we played our systems to almost a T. It was really nice to see." After a few changes, the coach says the team is really starting to buy in. "It comes down to playing a team game. We've just really stressed team Ð team game." Making a comparison to La Ronge, the coach says the Ice Wolves didn't look strong on paper last year "but when you played them, they were the best team." "They worked together and they accomplished. You can accomplish a lot if you work together, but you're not going to accomplish anything if you have a bunch of individuals. "You're not going to accomplish squat." Worked together Wednesday night, the Bombers really worked together as they held the Broncos to just 22 shots compared to the 50 they fired off on both Humboldt goalies. "That's the lowest number of shots we've given up this year," said Reagan, "which is something we've been trying to do." Two weeks ago, Flin Flon was struggling as they were getting 50 shots a night. "Tonight, we got 50 and only gave up 22 against a team that we've struggled against in the past. That's huge," said Reagan. A big contributor for the Bombers has been the recently added Tyler Mah. "He's been fantastic for us," said Reagan, giving him a nod for Wednesday's game. As well, the coach says the addition of Brandt Weldon has been a positive. Weldon joined the Bombers in a recent trade that sent Matt Maleschuk home. The Bombers looked to continue their success as they participated in the SJHL Showcase this past weekend in Weyburn.
