With many residents attending hockey games throughout the season, the Flin Flon Bomber organization is hoping to be able to send every student to a game. Children from the Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach and Cranberry Portage area are being considered for the Tickets for Kids campaign. The idea, according to Bomber board member Dan Reagan, came to fruition after thinking about the past games where students had been brought into the Whitney Forum. "It gets them out," said Reagan. "We consider it a positive thing and it's a positive thing for the kids to attend." The Tickets for Kids campaign is in the planning stages as the Bomber organization is looking into the financial state of the project. Reagan says they hope to choose one game each month to send all students free of charge. In the end, those six games will cost $7,200. Currently, the organization is looking for help from businesses to assist in the program. Reagan says the games have been broken down to $1,200 each. That number, he says, comes from the revenue and sales of children and student tickets at an average game. "We are approaching organizations that have an invested interest in the community," says Reagan, noting that the three school divisions are already on board with the idea as well as HBMS and a few councils. The home opener on Saturday will be the first game for the Tickets for Kids campaign. Tickets had been distributed to the students at each of the schools in Flin Flon, Creighton and Cranberry Portage. "I think it's important," says Reagan. "It's making Flin Flon a healthy community and making sure everyone can (attend a game)."
