The Flin Flon Bombers are pleased to announce the hiring of Emery Olauson as the teams' assistant coach for the 2013-14 SJHL season. Although this is his first season as a coach, Olauson (Canmore, AB) brings with him a wealth of playing experience that includes stints with the Weyburn Red Wings and Estevan Bruins where he put up 65 points (29g, 36a) in 59 games in 2000-01. From there Olauson finished his junior career in the USHL with the Topeka Scarecrows before playing two season with St. Thomas University of the CIS. He would go on to a 12 year professional hockey career, splitting time between the CHL and the SPHL making stops in Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama and Tennessee. He had his best years in the SPHL where he finished with 329 points (144g, 185a) with the Huntsville Havoc, Fayetteville FireAntz and the Knoxville Ice Bears. With the Ice Bears he had his best professional season with 88 points (44g, 44a) in 56 games while serving as the teams Assistant Captain. 'It's good to have a guy that recently finished playing hockey that understands how the game is being played today,' commented head coach and GM Mike Reagan. 'We seem to be on the same page with the expectations of building a championship contending team.' The Flin Flon Bombers organization welcome Emery and his girlfriend to Flin Flon and the Whitney Forum.
