Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Flin Flon Bombers had a rough road trip before the players went home for the Christmas break, as they lost all three of their games. The Bombers got off to a slow start as their game against the La Ronge Ice Wolves was postponed last Wednesday night, Dec. 15, due to weather. The next night, the Bombers travelled to North Battleford but the North Stars took no prisoners as they left the Bombers with a 6-4 loss. Taking Friday off, the Bombers were in Kindersley for a double-header weekend against the Klippers. The final period Saturday had the Bombers scoring their first goal of the night Ð as the Klippers earned the first of two wins as they beat the Bombers 5-1. Sunday, it was a close game for the Bombers as they lost 5-4. The first period started off right as the Maroon and White were up 2-1 at the end of it, but were tied 3-3 at the end of the second. The third period had the Bombers scoring only one goal while the Klippers took two. Battlefords North Stars The Bombers were down all game to the North Stars as the home team finished the first period up 3-0 over the visitors. A power play goal and a shorthanded goal led the North Stars to a 2-0 lead, followed by a third goal late in the period. Jesse Mychan earned Flin Flon's first goal, on a power play, in the second period with help from Tyler Mah. Just a minute later, Flin Flonner Dillan McCombie earned the team's second goal Ð making it 3-2 for the North Stars. The Bombers' glory was quickly taken away as the North Stars moved up 4-2 over Flin Flon. The third period saw the home team scoring the first goal, followed by a Maroon and White goal to make it 5-3. A fourth goal came from the Bombers, but as head coach and GM Mike Reagan pulled P.J Musico, the North Stars sealed the deal with an empty net goal for the 6-4 win. Kindersley Klippers The Bombers were in need of two wins this past weekend to stay above .500, but they lost that chance Saturday as the Klippers downed them 5-1. Musico started in net as an early goal made it past him to start the scoring for the Klippers. It was the sole marker for the first period. The second period saw one more goal from the Klippers on a power play. It was the third period when the Klippers really took off as they earned three goals against the Bombers Ð compared the Maroon and White's one goal of the game. Another early goal from Kindersley had the Klippers up 3-0 over the visitors. The Bombers earned their first goal of the night as Devon Stillar had a power play goal just shy of the three-minute mark. The Klippers had two more goals in the third period with their final marker coming on a power play. Sunday The Bombers were looking to redeem themselves after two losses in three days. Unfortunately for Flin Flon, a win just wasn't in the cards. Though it was the closest game the Bombers had in terms of scoring, the Klippers took another two points from Flin Flon on Sunday. Musico was back in net for Flin Flon. The game started off on a high note for the Bombers as they scored the first goal Ð a marker from Andrew Johnston just before the three-minute mark. The Klippers tied the game at one apiece with a goal at 6:30. The tie stood for roughly six minutes as Johnston earned his second of the night. For the first time in their road trip, the Bombers ended a period with the lead Ð 2-1. The second period had the Klippers tie the game again and then take the lead shortly thereafter with two quick goals against Musico. Sitting at 3-2, Bomber captain Ryan Fox tied the game with a power play goal later in the period. Heading into the third, the Klippers opened fire and broke the tie in the opening minute with a power play goal. Sealing the deal, the Klippers scored an empty netter for a 6-4 win. Christmas Break The Bombers, along with the 11 other SJHL teams, are now on Christmas break until Dec. 29. That night, Flin Flon will host Team Sweden in an exhibition game at the Whitney Forum. The following day, the Bombers will hold a skills competition, which will also feature roughly 40 hockey players from the Flin Flon Minor Hockey Association. The Bombers' first game in the 2011 part of the season will be Jan. 2, as they host the La Ronge Ice Wolves. As of press time Monday, the Bombers and Ice Wolves had not rescheduled last Wednes-day's postponed game.
