The Flin Flon Bombers got off to a rough start on their latest road trip with a 6-1 loss to the Humboldt Broncos Tuesday night. According to Flin Flon head coach and GM Mike Reagan, the Bombers got off to a bad start in the game, too. "...the first period, we (were) not ready to play. We took Humboldt lightly," said the coach in a phone interview. "We didn't think they were going to be as good as they were." The Bombers were faced with a surprise as the Broncos ended the first period up convincingly 3-0. It was a similar story in the second period as the Bombers went into the dressing room down 6-0. Nearing the middle of the third period, Eric Millisor scored the Bombers' lone goal with help from Corey Tyrell and Jesse Mychan. The Bombers held the Broncos to 27 shots over the course of the game, something Reagan says he was pleased with. "We're happy with the amount (of shots against)," he said, adding he wasn't happy about the quality of scoring chances left open to the Broncos. "We watched them skate around (us) and we gave up quality scoring chances," said the coach. Flin Flon outshot Humboldt with 33 shots, but the team couldn't capitalize on their opportunities Ð unlike the Broncos. Reagan said the Bombers "got down early." "When (you) do that against a team as good as Humboldt, it's hard to come back." A bad start to Tuesday night's game against the Broncos set the Bombers down 1-0 on their road series. The next night, the Bombers were in Melfort to try their luck against the Mustangs. Heading into the game, Flin Flon knew they were going to have to come out with a better effort. "Tonight, we have to rebound," he said Wednesday morning. "I'm happy with the way we played (last night), but we need a better start (tonight)," he said. Wednesday was the Bombers' second game of two on the road before coming back to host the Broncos tonight at the Whitney Forum. For Wednesday, Reagan said he hoped his players were "ready to go."
