Three goals in the final period weren’t enough for the Flin Flon Bombers as they lost 5-3 to the Melville Millionaires.
Visiting the Whitney Forum last Saturday, Nov. 30, the  Millionaires led the Bombers 3-0 heading into the third.
Newcomer Dustin Perrilat put Flin Flon on the board at 3:44 of the final frame, with help from Conner Bass.
Melville answered with their fourth marker of the night at 5:48, on a power play, and their final goal at 8:33 – also with the man advantage.
The Bombers were down 5-1 before Dillan McCombie picked up his lone goal of the game at 14:35 – the game’s third power play marker.
Paul Soubry scored the Bombers’ – and the game’s – final goal at 17:01.
The first period saw the visitors open early with their first goal at the 56-second mark.
Melville’s initial marker held the one-goal lead for the majority of the first period before their second came in at 17:32.
The second period saw just one goal as the Millionaires made it a 3-0 game at 19:03.
Shots, shots, shots
It was a less than impressive first period for the Bombers as they managed only one shot on Melville goaltender Isaiah Plett while Flin Flon goalie Devin Buffalo had the puck fired at him 16 times.
The last two periods were more evenly matched as both teams had 10 shots in the second frame.
Flin Flon surpassed Melville in the third period with 19 shots on net compared to 10 for the visitors – giving the Bombers 30 shots and the Millionaires 36.
Saturday’s loss didn’t affect the Bombers in the Sherwood Division standings as they remained tied for second place.
Sitting with 24 points, the Bombers are evenly matched with the La Ronge Ice Wolves as the Nipawin Hawks claim first place with 28 points – leaving the Melfort Mustangs in the basement with 22 points.
In the overall standings, Flin Flon’s 24 points leaves them tied with the Ice Wolves as well as the Estevan Bruins of the Viterra Division.
The SJHL saw the Yorkton Terriers take lead, as of yesterday morning, with 40 points in 27 games and leaving the Weyburn Red Wings, Notre Dame Hounds, and Melfort Mustangs tied for the bottom position with 22 points.

The Flin Flon Bombers were defeated 5-3 by the Melville Millionaires, Saturday night at the Whitney Forum. Previous to that game, the Bombers lost 4-3 to the Battlefords North Stars. Pictured here, players left the ice during one of the intermissions against the North Stars.
