The Flin Flon Bombers will be saying goodbye to another familiar face as assistant coach Michael George will be heading west. George was recently named as associate coach for the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL. 'I was very happy,' George told the Thunder's website. 'It's definitely an awesome destination. I've been up north in Flin Flon for quite a while now, for three years, and I've heard nothing but great things about Drayton Valley and their hockey program. 'I'm excited to become a part of it.' George, a former player, spent three seasons with the Battlefords North Stars before moving on to the Southern Professional Hockey League and attending a training camp in the American Hockey League. George came to the Bombers as an assistant coach and the director of marketing three years ago. His extensive experience helped set George apart from the rest, according to Thunder GM Mike Mueller. 'It certainly generated a lot of inquiries,' Mueller told the team website. '...there were obviously some criteria that I was looking for in that position. (George) meets all those requirements above and beyond that.' Along with George's skill on the bench and the ice, he's also a personal trainer _ 'which will prove beneficial for players on and off the ice,' Mueller said. The Drayton Valley Thunder play in a division alongside the Bonnyville Pontiacs, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, Grand Prairie Storm, Lloydminster Bobcats, Sherwood Park Crusaders, Spruce Grove Saints, and Whitecourt Wolverines.
