Bomber fans will soon be taking over the greens at the Phantom Lake Golf Course as the annual Bomber Golf Tournament will host a maximum of 80 golfers and 15 Bombers in a mixed best ball tournament. The annual tournament is a fun way for the Bombers to get to know the sponsors and the fans, and vice versa. Bombers head coach and GM Mike Reagan says he hopes to have 15 players out on the greens. ÒMost of our young guys that we have signed will be in the golf tournament,Ó says Reagan. ÒAnd they are looking forward to meeting some of the sponsors and some of the diehard fans, for sure.Ó Reagan says this year's tournament is going to be a good one. For the first time, the Bombers have come up with a hole-in-one contest with a prize on eight of the nine holes. The hole-in-one prizes, which range from cash to entertainment centres and a vacation, wonÕt be given away unless the golfer sinks their shot. ÒThere are some good prizes in there,Ó says Reagan. Also on the prize docket are two trucks, more cash and a boat and motor. The coach adds that there will be some Bomber giveaways being thrown around the greens as well. The golf tournament is the BombersÕ biggest team fundraiser, as the money raised goes directly into the team. ÒIt is to provide things we need,Ó says Reagan, which could include Òstuff in the dressing room, but itÕs not to pay bills, itÕs all for the guys.Ó Last year the money went to fund the teamÕs track jackets. ÒIf we want something other than what the board is willing to provide,Ó the money can be used for it, Reagan says. For the tournament itself, Reagan says he hopes to see it get bigger and better every year. ÒWe want it to be available for not only Bomber fans, but golf fans as well. We want it to be intriguing to them. ÒSo you donÕt necessarily have to be a Bomber fan to be in the tournament. ItÕs a good way to win yourself a good prize.Ó Reagan, who is returning to the team for his second year as bench boss, says itÕs because of the support that the tournament is a success. Tee times begin at 3 p.m. on August 22 with the last one at 5:45 p.m. For more information contact the Bomber office at 687-4404. This yearÕs Hole in one sponsors are: Hole one - Royal Bank Hole two - Pharmasave Hole three - Subway Hole four - Creighton Furniture and Appliances Hole five - Northland Ford Hole six - McKeenÕs Trucking Hole eight - Murray Dunn Hole nine - Standard Insurance
