Scoring was on their side last Friday night as the Flin Flon Bombers made it past the OCN Blizzard seven times in the team's second exhibition game of the preseason. The Maroon and White kept the 500 fans loud as they played the puck well between both ends. Fans had plenty to cheer for as the Bombers had two goals in the first period, three in the second and two in the third. It was nothing new to the returning players, but head coach and GM Mike Reagan told the team that a good team doesn't lose two in a row. It's a motto the bench boss believes in for his team. Having lost their first exhibition game to Swan River days earlier, on Monday, the Bombers picked up their sticks and proved the motto to be true. Reagan says it took some time for the team to get their legs, but it came for them in the second period Ð which was evident from the goals scored. But like any win, it was a "huge" confidence booster, says the coach. From there, the Bombers were hitting the road for Thompson where they would face the Blizzard one more time. Reagan says the Bombers always seem to come out on top in the first game Ð but it's the second that OCN is on their game. "They always come back with a tighter game," he says. "We're expecting a closer game." But his predictions were wrong Ð in a sense Ð as the Bombers came out on top for their second win over OCN in the preseason. The Bombers host the Nipawin Hawks in a double-header weekend with the first game tonight at the Whitney Forum. Reagan says with the next couple games, he hopes the team "continues to get better." By being a tighter team early on, Reagan says the team will be able to accomplish that. But it also comes down to being "more consistent and learning the systems." "The teams who can play the best systems usually win," says the coach. After Saturday's game, the team will be getting ready for the home opener Ð on September 19 against the Melfort Mustangs. Though it's still early to say what will happen, Reagan says they have good returning players. But like any team, they still "have a lot of work to do."
