Friday the Maroon and White blasted the Klippers 8-2, but Kindersley wasnÕt going to let it happen again as they came out in full swing for SaturdayÕs game. After FridayÕs game, head coach and GM Mike Reagan said he knew the KlipperÕs werenÕt going to be slacking off in the second game of the double header weekend. And that they werenÕt. It came down to a few last minute goals, but the KlipperÕs took the two points for the night with a score of 3-2. The 940 fans in attendance would agree with assistant coach Trevor Sack when he said the game was very different from the night before. ÒThe Klippers played way better tonight,Ó said Sack. ÒWe didnÕt have the same intensity as last night and as a result, we came up one goal short.Ó The Bombers scored their second goal of the night late in the third period, which Sack said was too late. ÒThere was no life on the bench when we were down two (goals),Ó he says. ÒWe were looking for the spark to get going. It just came a little late.Ó After the game, Sack said the power play action, or lack there of for the Bombers, really hurt them. ÒWe couldnÕt capitalize on the power plays and that cost us,Ó he said. ÒWe didnÕt have one tonight and we were 5-7 last night.Ó And though the team was dressed and on the ice, the assistant coach didnÕt see the effort that the team showed the night before. ÒItÕs no excuse, but two of our better defense (players) are out for fines and suspensions. ÒWe needed that extra spark and we lacked the extra intensity from last night,Ó he says. The Bombers have kick-started their five home game stretch, which they planned on having a better record than 1-1. The LaRonge Ice Wolves are in town Friday and Sack says it should be an interesting game. ÒItÕs going to be a conference rival,Ó he says, noting that the Bombers were sitting in second place and the Ice Wolves in third in the Itech Conference. ÒLaRonge is playing well. ItÕs going to be a fight to play with the intensity we know we are capable of,Ó he says. Currently, the Bombers sit with a 4-3-0 record and a 1-1 record for October. ÒItÕs early in the month and there are a lot of games left,Ó says Sack. ÒLooking back at the 1-1, we will have wished we were undefeated. ÒItÕs our goal to win and we have a team that can win on any given night,Ó he says. The following is a game summary from SaturdayÕs game against the Klippers: The fans thought it was going to be a repeat of the night before as Michael Young scored an unassisted goal in the first period, just shy of eight minutes on the clock. But Ryan Nieszner had other plans as he was a power house for the Klippers and stopped 10 of the 11 shots that period. Calvin Bartel was in net for the Bombers as he was a wall in the first period, stopping his five shots. The first period saw three penalties for the Klippers and one for the Bombers as Ryan Toporowski was in for slashing. The Klippers found their sticks in the second period and earned two goals. With the score 2-1, the Bombers were hoping to tie things back up, but the Klippers beat them to it. Making it 3-1 in the third period, the Bombers and fans were looking a little lost until veteran Tommy Castonguay made it 3-2 late in the period. Though they were unable to get a third goal, life was back on the Bomber bench. The Maroon and White skated back to their dressing room with a 3-2 loss from the Klippers. The team hopes to rekindle their rivalry with the Ice Wolves on Friday and earn themselves two points.
