After a 4-3 victory over the visiting Melville Millionaires Friday night, the Bombers made their way to La Ronge on Sunday to take on the Ice Wolves, but lost in a 4-3 battle. A loss started off the month of December, but the Bombers still have another eight games left in the year to get a good winning streak going. Sunday night saw the Bombers score the first two goals of the game, but it wasn't enough to take a win. A scoreless first period saw four penalties, two for each team. Bomber Pierre-Luc Boucher sat out first for being an ineligible player, which would come from having a chin strap undone or touching the puck without a helmet on. Ice Wolf Riel Thomson was given two minutes for interference while teammate Sterling Bear saw the inside of the box for slashing. Flin Flon's Scott Day was called on interference as well, giving him two minutes behind the glass. The Bombers had seven shots on net, while Calvin Bartel saw eight shots come his way. The second period was where things really got started as the Bombers scored two of their goals. Barrett Penner broke La Ronge goalie Jonathan Jobin's shutout as he scored the first goal of the game. Assisting Penner's goal were linemates David Linsley and Dustyn Clegg. Two minutes later, at 3:58, the Bombers came back and gave themselves a comfort zone as Brennan Cox lit the lantern to give the Bombers a 2-0 lead over the home team. Helping with Cox's goal were Dennis Kubat and Michael Young. La Ronge answered back less than a minute later to break Bartel's goose egg. The second period also only saw a few penalties as the Ice Wolves were called three times while the visiting Maroon and White only saw one player in the sin bin. The third period had plenty of goals to round out the game. The Ice Wolves scored the first goal of the period, bringing the score up 2-2, but the Bombers broke the tie and managed another goal. Penner got the puck past Jobin, assisted by Reid MacLeod and Boucher. With a score of 3-2 for the Bombers, the Ice Wolves scored another two goals, defeating the Bombers 4-3. The third period saw Ice Wolf Ken Neufeld in the box for high sticking, while the Bombers had two penalties. Kory Gursky was given two minutes for tripping, while Harley Garrioch was called on interference. To end the game, La Ronge's Bruno-Pier gosslein was given two minutes for slashing. The Bombers hit the ice tonight to take on the Estevan Bruins at the Whitney Forum.
