The Bombers are hoping their next two home games will be in their favour as the first two in the round robin play of the playoffs certainly werenÕt. Flin Flon headed out to Humboldt Friday to challenge not only the top team in the SJHL, but the top Junior team in Canada. And it was a tough loss for the third place team in the Itech Conference as the Broncos beat up on the Bombers 6-0 for the win. The Maroon and White were off their game as they were outshot 29-50. Coach Mike Reagan had Calvin Bartel in the net, but that didnÕt seem to matter as the Broncos were unstoppable throughout the game. The first period saw three goals on the scoreboard for the home team as Jordan Schnidel started things off with an assist from Brady Wacker and Russ Nielsen, on a power play goal after only five minutes of play. Matthew Kirzinger was next, with an unassisted short handed goal. And it was Tanner Vandesype who scored the final goal of the opening 20 minutes of play, after being fed by Schnidel and Laurent Benjamin on a power play with less than two minutes left. The Bombers spent a number of minutes in the penalty box as Cameron MacKinnon was put away for two minutes for tripping while Cole Wilson served the teamÕs bench penalty. With two players in the box, Schindel was able to get by Bartel for the first goal. Troy Allan, of the Broncos, was given two minutes for high sticking. See 'Interfe...' on pg. Continued from pg. And it was Shawn Hunter who served HumboldtÕs bench penalty for too many men on the ice. A few minutes later Krizinger found himself being called on interference, putting him in the box for two minutes. Scott Day was given two minutes for slashing and Harley Garrioch finished off the penalties for the first period with a kneeing call. Bartel had 14 shots come his way during the opening period as the Bombers fired off nine shots to Taylor Nelson. The second period saw only one goal, as the Broncos made it 4-0. Benjamin, earning his first goal of the game, was fed by Allan and Nielsen for another power play goal late into period. Flin Flon racked up a few more penalties as Matt Restoule was given two minutes for slashing, Bartel was given two minutes for roughing, Jean-Sebastien Bergeron found himself in the box for cross checking and Myles Masse was given two minutes for interference. Bartel faced another 26 shots from the Broncos, knocking off 25 of them. The Bombers fell a little short as they managed eight on Nelson. Going into the third period with a score of 4-0, the Broncos showed no mercy as their scored another two goals against Bartel, making it 6-0. Hunter got it started with a goal almost 13 minutes into the game, with an assist by Josh Garneau on a power play. And it was Wacker who fired off the final goal of the night, after being fed by Schindel and Brayden Klimosko, for another power play goal. The final period saw quite a few penalties as well as Barrett Penner was given two minutes for roughing right off the bat while Hunter found himself locked away with an interference call against him. And it was the thing of the night as Nelson was given two minutes for roughing, as Bartel was in the second period. Vandesype was called on roughing as well. Masse found himself in the box for interference while Bergeron and Allan were both given five minutes for fighting. Garrioch sat out his two minutes for holding and Justin Stoski was called on slashing. Michael Young rounded out the penalties for Flin Flon with a roughing call and Garneau was given two minutes for high sticking.
