The Flin Flon Bombers suffered their most lopsided loss of the season Thursday night, losing 6-1 to the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Hounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead less than 90 seconds into the game after a goal by Alec Zawatsky and never relinquished the lead. After Zack Kosteniuk extended Notre Dame's lead to 2-0, Dawson McKenzie scored what would be Flin Flon's only goal of the game.

After that, the Hounds scored four unanswered goals, with Chance Longjohn, Riley Perka, Zawatsky and Ahmed Ally each finding the net.

Bomber goalie Brenden Newton was pulled early in the third period, making 18 saves on 22 shots during a night to forget for the maroon and white. Backup Niklas Anderson fared little better in his first SJHL outing, giving up two goals on eight shots.

The loss extends the Bombers' losing streak to three games, including both games played during the team's current six-game road trip.

The Bombers still sit second in the Sherwood Division with 13 points, one point ahead of Nipawin and six behind league-leading Melfort.

The Bombers will have a day off the ice before playing the Weyburn Red Wings Saturday night and the red-hot Estevan Bruins on Sunday. Flin Flon will end the road trip with games against La Ronge and Battlefords on Oct. 20 and 21.
