Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Flin Flon Bombers earned a much-needed win against the La Ronge Ice Wolves Tuesday night. On the road, the Bombers came away with a 4-1 victory over the home team. Following the Christmas break, the Bombers have had trouble earning W's, but the team came together Tuesday night. Jesse Mychan opened fire in the first period, scoring against Adam Bartko just 1:27 into the game, unassisted. Andrew Johnston kept the scoring going as he earned the team's second goal of the night just two minutes later, with help from captain Ryan Fox and Tyler Mah. The Ice Wolves scored the lone goal in the second period as Nolan Souchotte got one past P.J. Musico at 10:39. Maintaining a 2-1 lead, the Bombers doubled up on their goals in the third period as Johnston scored his second of the night, on a power play, with help from Tanner Korchinski and Fox at 6:54. Tyrell lit the lantern last for the Bombers as Ice Wolves coach Bob Beatty pulled Bartko, giving the Bombers an empty net goal at 19:36. See 'Bomb...' on pg. 13 Continued from pg. 4 Penalties were dished out to both teams throughout the game, as the Bombers were in the sin bin seven times Ð five of which came in the second period. For the Ice Wolves, the team was in once more with eight penalties Ð an even split between the second and third period. The Bombers went shorthanded twice but were able to keep the Ice Wolves at bay with a strong penalty kill. As for the Ice Wolves, they were left with Bomber four power plays to kill off Ð one of which netted Flin Flon a goal. The Bombers are to host the Ice Wolves tomorrow night, but not before hosting the ever-tough Melfort Mustangs.
