Alex Smith scored twice and Zac Robidoux made 33 saves in a losing cause as the Flin Flon Bombers dropped their season opener 6-3 Friday night in Nipawin.
The Bombers gave up four goals to the Hawks in the second period and were outshot 35-39 on the night.
Scoring for Flin Flon were Smith with two goals and Adam Wilson with one. One assist each went to Curtis Roach, Mason Etter, Greyson Reitmeier, Joel Webb, Joel Kocur and Brandon Switzer.
In his Bombers debut, Robidoux faced 38 shots. The Hawks beat him five times before adding an empty-netter late in the third period.
Announced attendance was 848 fans at the Centennial Arena.
The Bombers will look to avenge the loss Saturday night when the Hawks visit the Whitney Forum.
